The department of Managua is much more than a simple city and has much to offer visitors. Besides being the most populous state of the country, is one of the most varied, as well as having the capital city, has much of Lake Managua and reaches the Pacific, with several beaches to enjoy.


The department consists of 9 municipalities, many populous; being the most important city of Managua, followed by Ciudad Sandino, cruise, Mateare, San Francisco Libre, San Rafael del sur, Ticuantepe Tipitapa and Villa Carlos Fonseca (Villa Carmen).

As elsewhere in the country, the department of Managua has great natural attractions. Besides the beaches of Pochomil, Masachapa, Montelimar, San Diego or Los cajones all located on the Pacific coast. Managua also has two natural lakes such as Laguna de Xiloa and Tiscapa Lagoon and Apoyeque volcano, located in the Peninsula Chiltepe within Lake Managua and is a true natural beauty. Things to Do in Managua:

For its size, Managua has the largest cultural events in the country highlighting the National Museum, the theater Rubén Darío or Managua Cultural Centre, various private nature reserves of the city, the National Zoo with its excellent butterfly, or the various monuments.
